Wear your face - Braun further cements design credentials through the launch of a thought-provoking collection of photography celebrating modern man with iconic contributors.

KRONBERG, Germany - Friday, June 15th 2012 [ME NewsWire]

(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Famed for pushing the boundaries of creativity in the design of everyday items, Braun, a member of the P&G family of brands (NYSE:PG), is pleased to support and sponsor Wear your face, portraits of men of varying ages, origin and character brought together in tribute to modern men. The brainchild of visionary creative, Olaf Reys of BBDO, the book is a powerful visual interpretation of the line ‘Wear your face’. The heavy-weight book captures masculinity in the 21st century, housing over 200 portraits of men including famous faces such as George Clooney, Robert de Niro, Mickey Rourke, Jose Mourinho, Ryan Gosling and Mick Jagger* by 45 iconic international contributors including Rankin, Michel Comte, Lars David Neill, Erwin Wurm, Martin Schoeller and Art Streiber. Proceeds from book sales will benefit UNICEF.
Wear your face started life as a campaign idea for a Braun specific project in the US, Olaf’s task was to bring to life the core sentiment behind the line ‘Be who you are – that is what matters – the window of your unique personality is your face’. After the campaign launched, Olaf felt he wanted to do much more with the concept. He set out to explore the full diversity and interpretations of Wear your face and men’s role within society today. He searched out and hand-picked photographers, directors, designers and artists to work with him on the project, all united by the vision to capture from an aesthetic and artistic point of view, masculinity as it exists at the end of the first decade of the 21st century.
Olaf comments “Today the male public image is multifaceted and malleable, presenting a kaleidoscope of diversity and sophistication. The work I amassed is a visual documentation of how far society has moved towards a more tolerant interpretation of masculinity – and femininity.”
Rankin, who took part in the project, says: “To me the meaning of Wear you face is best captured by the look in an eye. Whether we are aware of it or not, eyes are what we naturally focus on when we look at faces – they are the real storytellers. The rest of the face is really just a frame out of which the eyes sparkle.”
A portrait of Portuguese football manager and the face of Braun Series 7 shavers, Jose Mourinho is included in the book.
Mourinho comments: “As the theme of this book is so rich, the images found in it are diverse and varied. It’s an inspiring read that fuels the imagination, and supports the essential work that UNICEF is responsible for across the globe.”
Anne Kathrin Linsenhoff, Vice-Chairman UNICEF Germany, says: “Braun has a long history with supporting UNICEF projects and we are always inspired by the creativity and passion that goes into their global fundraising. This beautiful book project is an overwhelmingly touching execution of this support and testament to the brand’s social responsibility.”
The book will be available to buy at selected stores throughout the world. Priced at €39.90, with proceeds going to UNICEF. Order it now on amazon.de and seltmannundsoehne.de/en.
