Songs Praising Khalifa High in the Sky of Moscow

Played by ADP Music Band and Attracted Vast Audience

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Tuesday, September 10th 2013 [ME NewsWire]

The songs of the Abu Dhabi Police Music Band, which extolled the virtues of the leader of the homeland, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, attracted huge audiences. Arabs and non-Arabs gathered during the International Military Music Festival “Spasskaya Tower,” which recently concluded, and enjoyed the Abu Dhabi Police Music Band’s performance. In line with the Golden Jubilee celebrations to mark its establishment in July 1963, the Abu Dhabi Police Music Band’s shows at the festival received admiration from a wide spectrum of spectators.

The band played a set of national and traditional pieces, such as Sir Bu Sultan and May Peace Be Upon Khalifa (Ala Khalifa Al Salam), in addition to a number of UAE heritage melodies such as Al Aialah, Al Bawab, and Al Harbiya among others. Audiences were thrilled by the music. Top officials from the Russian federal government including the Inspector General of Police, Lt. Gen. Sergei Klebnikov and a number of ambassadors and community representatives also followed the UAE music shows.

The festival activities demonstrated a beautiful and gleaming image of the UAE’s heritage. At its conclusion, Krasnaya Presnya Park and the Red Square witnessed a number of traditional musical pieces. Local Emirati bands participated in the final day with different pieces. Al Aialah, Al Harbiya and a number of national songs were played, to reflect the authenticity of the UAE’s heritage.

Marking Moscow’s annual holidays, the Abu Dhabi Police Music Band performed at the Red Square in Moscow. Similar pieces were played in GUM, the department store; the Moscow Museum; and Kremlin Gardens. The performances received the admiration of the audience, who interacted with the traditional performances of Al Aialah, Al Harbiya and other traditional pieces.  Members of the audience also joined the members of the Abu Dhabi Police to dance along with the performances of Al Aialah and Al Harbiya.

At the conclusion of the festival, 15 countries joined the Abu Dhabi Police Music Band and its Golden Jubilee celebrations. The Abu Dhabi Police’s participation in the International Military Music Festival, together with a number of other countries, reflects its efforts to enhance its presence, locally and globally. It aims to participate in different activities around the world, in order to introduce other countries to the genuine heritage of the United Arab Emirates and to the civilized image of the Emirati local community. The UAE is rich with patriotism, community solidarity and unity under the flag of love and loyalty to the leader of the development march.

First Lieutenant Ibrahim Al Hosani, Director of the Music Education Branch at the Abu Dhabi Police, said: “The band gave a great performance. The Russian audiences interacted with the new musical pieces and requested more shows. The musical pieces and the traditional songs were presented daily in outstanding performances for two and a half hours during the evening from 8:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.”

“The band was able to deliver a high-quality performance, demonstrating its skills in front of vast crowds. Its professional skills have developed very far within this type of music. Music is an international language that crosses borders without the need for a passport or tickets,” he added.

He stated: “Celebrating such important moments of the history of the Abu Dhabi Police reminds its members that one’s contribution always remains in the homeland’s memory. The police music band initiative will continue to introduce the public to the role and national contributions of the Abu Dhabi Police Music Band. These initiatives will also highlight the start of the band and how it developed over the past five decades.”

The United Arab Emirates was the only Arab country to take part in the International Military Music Festival in Moscow. Russian and international media and websites covered this participation.

Notably, in addition to its participation in police trainings, the band contributes in connecting the police with the public in celebrations and national events. It witnessed an important stage of development in the attention paid to its staff and instruments it uses. Besides drums and keyboards, a number of string instruments such as violins and cellos were added. Other instruments such as clarinets, cornets, trombones, and saxophones were also added.
