The MoU was signed by Major General Mohammed bin Al Awadi Menhali, Director General of Police Operations on behalf of Abu Dhabi Police, and by Dr. Tayeb Kamali, Director of the Higher Colleges of Technology at the State level. The MoU sets  the framework of joint cooperation between the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ, and the Centre of Excellence for Applied Research & Training (CERT) “the research and economic arm of HCT” to establish the Academy. It is noteworthy that the Academy will include five different centers, namely; the Forensic Science Center; the Organized Crime Center; the Security Flexibility Center; the Security Technology and Cybercrime Center; and the Security Policies and Strategies Centers.

These centers will provide training programs, along with the accredited continuous professional development programs, in addition to advisory services and research in the field of security. Planning  is currently underway to set up more centers in the future to cover areas of community safety and traffic policies.

On the same note, both parties agreed that the HCT will provide any security-related training or educational programs at the Security Center affiliated to the Academy.

Dr. Tayeb Kamali praised the signing of this MoU, which would  prepare HCT students for promising careers in vital security areas and other security-related sectors. “Thanks to this MoU, HCT students will gain extensive knowledge, advanced skills and self-confidence. This would allow them  to contribute to the economic development of the State as active members of society; attain their full potential; and have future successful careers in the security sector,” added Dr. Kamali.

He also reiterated the abiding commitment of HCT to provide the best educational opportunities for students, consistent with the learning-by-doing approach. Dr. Kamali also noted that according to the MoU, students will be trained on the different roles of the various security areas on the country’s economy,  which is witnessing a remarkable development. “This would eventually contribute to provide the country with qualified experts in the area of security,” he continued.

Concluding, he expressed his great satisfaction for the valuable cooperation with Abu Dhabi Police in establishing the AIS, with a view to provide specialized programs that meet the specific needs of the local economy.
