TruePosition Acquires Intellectual Property from Rosum

BERWYN, Penn. - Thursday, September 8th 2011 [ME NewsWire]

(BUSINESS WIRE)-- TruePosition, Inc., a leading provider of wireless location technologies and solutions and a subsidiary of Liberty Media Corporation, today announced that it has acquired all of Rosum Corporation’s intellectual property portfolio.

Rosum Corporation, which was a former Frost & Sullivan Technology of the Year awardee and a Red Herring 100 Technology company, formerly developed high-accuracy wireless location solutions using television signals. Over a number of years it developed an extensive portfolio consisting of 28 U.S. patents and nine international patents.

The comprehensive patent portfolio covers location and timing solutions that make use of television signals. The television-based technology is one of only two location technologies that have been demonstrated to reliably work indoors. The portfolio covers location and timing across a broad range of television signal types, including analog and digital formats. Among other things, the patents cover hybrid location technologies which include the use of television signals in combination with other technologies such as GPS. They also cover the use of television signals to provide fine timing assistance for A-GPS.

“Today, TruePosition has 52 U.S. patents and 130 international patents that cover a variety of wireless location technologies,” stated Steve Stuut, Chief Executive Officer of TruePosition. “We will continue to bolster our intellectual property portfolio, particularly in areas around high-accuracy and indoor location techniques, which are well-suited for mission-critical location-based safety and security solutions.”
