Independence Day: Resurgence set for GCC release on First Day of Eid Al Fitr

Dubai, United Arab Emirates - Monday, July 4th 2016 [ME NewsWire]
We always knew they were coming back, and now, 20 years after Independence Day redefined the event movie genre, the sequel promises to be even more groundbreaking. Set to be released across the GCC on the first day of Eid, the movie will welcome newcomer Liam Hemsworth in the role of Jake Morrison, a hotshot heroic fighter pilot, with Jeff Goldblum reprising his role as David Levinson.
From director Roland Emmerich, Independence Day: Resurgence delivers global spectacle on an unimaginable scale.  Using recovered Alien technology, the nations of Earth have collaborated on an immense defense program to protect the planet.  But nothing can prepare us for the Aliens’ advanced and unprecedented force.  Only the ingenuity of a few brave men and women can bring our world back from the brink of extinction.
Middle-Eastern viewers will be treated to a familiar sight after watching the movie, as Dubai’s Burj Khalifa skyscraper—the tallest structure in the world—sends London’s Ferris Wheel crashing into the Thames.   (The Aliens like to hit the landmarks…)
Speaking at a press conference organized at Vox Cinemas in Dubai last month in collaboration with du Tuesday and Empire International, director Roland Emmerich joked that the Burj Khalifa was still standing tall during his visit: “I can assure everybody that it’s still there, I slept there last night – It was still standing when we left, I promise!”
From his end, Liam Hemsworth briefly introduced his character, before giving us a glimpse of the roles of his fellow newcomers: “My character has this chip on his shoulder, and he is connected with the film's backstory as well, as his parents were killed in the first alien invasion in 1996," he said. “We have Maika Monroe who plays Patricia Whitmore, president Whitmore’s daughter and Jake Morrison’s fiancée, we have Jessie Usher who plays Dylan Hiller and Travis (Tope), he’s wonderful, he’s sort of I guess, my best friend in the film.” he added.
Jeff Goldblum, who stole the show at the press conference with his humorous answers, seemed in awe of his younger counterpart: “What words would you use to describe Liam Hemsworth? He’s fantastic!” he said. He later joked that he would offer a real life Alien some dates, if he ever gets to meet one: “Hi Alien…I hope you’re not like the ones I acted with, I hope you’re friendly, may I offer you some cake? What do you do around these parts if you have a neighbor do you take something over to them? Some dates? A nice box of dates? I would offer them a date with a nice Almond in it!”
Independence Day: Resurgence has already made $170million + globally and is set to be released in the GCC on the first day of Eid Al Fitr.
