Mobinil Expands Relationship With NetCracker to Rapidly Monetize Investment in 3G

Egyptian Operator Accelerates Transformation Project With NetCracker, Building on Successful Implementation of Phase 1

WALTHAM, Mass. - Monday, October 17th 2011 [ME NewsWire]

(BUSINESS WIRE)-- NetCracker Technology announced today that Mobinil has completed Phase 2 of its ongoing 3G transformation program, focusing on rapidly operationalizing and monetizing its investment in 3G infrastructure.

With more than 30 million customers, Mobinil is Egypt's leading mobile operator. In 2009, NetCracker announced that it was selected to transform Mobinil’s 3G infrastructure. Phase 1 of that project, which centered on automating service fulfillment and service activation, was completed successfully. Phase 2, which builds on the success of Phase 1 and focuses on the Resource Layer to ensure optimization of the infrastructure, has now been delivered successfully as well.

Phase 2 is specifically designed to:

Ensure optimization of infrastructure assets with real-time understanding of availability
Produce complete, end-to-end visibility for capacity planning and rapid network deployment
Enable rapid creation and delivery of new services

“We were very pleased with the way that NetCracker worked closely with us to manage the complexities of Phase 1 of our transformation. They delivered the project on time and on budget,” said Yasser Shaker, Mobinil’s VP of Technology. “We are equally pleased with their delivery of Phase 2, which enables us to offer new, innovative services and quickly monetize our significant investment in 3G.”

Mr. Ayman Amiri, Director of Network Engineering, Operations, & Technology, also expressed his satisfaction with NetCracker’s delivery of this critical project, stating that “Cooperation between the NetCracker and Mobinil teams was excellent, and NetCracker’s management of the project resulted in an on-time and trouble-free implementation.” He added that “The completion of this new phase of our network transformation program has significantly improved network efficiency and greatly improved our fulfilment process. We are looking forward to further optimization of OpEx as well as an increase in customer satisfaction.”

For Phase 2, Mobinil utilized the full suite of fulfillment products in NetCracker’s Telecom Operations and Management portfolio. To manage end-to-end delivery of the turnkey NetCracker solution, Mobinil selected NetCracker as Systems Integrator, drawing on the company’s comprehensive professional services capabilities, proven best practices, and unbroken solution delivery track record. As SI, NetCracker assumed full responsibility for the project and worked closely with Mobinil’s Engineering Group to provide ongoing guidance, resources, and support.

“Mobinil has demonstrated incredible market leadership through its ambitious 3G transformation project,” said Andrew Feinberg, President and CEO of NetCracker. “They are proving that such an investment will create a significant return in terms of customer loyalty, quality of service, and improved overall business operations. We look forward to our continued engagement and successful partnership.”
