Latest DTS, Fujitsu Partnership Brings Premium Audio Experience to PC Devices

Market’s First PCs to Boast Seven Layers of DTS Audio Technology Offer All-Encompassing Personal Entertainment for Consumers

CALABASAS, Calif. - Thursday, October 6th 2011 [ME NewsWire]

(BUSINESS WIRE)-- DTS, Inc. (Nasdaq: DTSI), a leader in high-definition audio, today announced that Fujitsu, a top manufacturer of computer hardware products and solutions, will integrate DTS UltraPC II Plus™ technology into its all-in-one desktop and laptop PCs, due out later this year. Initially available in Japan, Fujitsu’s FH, DH, NH and AH series computers will be the world’s first PC platform to incorporate seven layers of DTS’ leading audio technology. This announcement marks an extension of the partnership forged late last year, which first integrated DTS Surround Sensation UltraPC™ software into Fujitsu computers.

The inclusion of DTS’ high-performance audio technology into select Fujitsu all-in-one and laptop computers will offer consumers the best audio possible, as they listen to music, watch movies or play games.

“As computers play a more versatile role in the household, consumers are becoming increasingly aware of the fact that sound quality does matter,” said Brian Towne, executive vice president and chief operating officer, DTS, Inc. “The integration of DTS technology into a growing number of personal computers, televisions and mobile devices further reinforces our commitment to help manufacturers deliver an immersive, realistic surround sound experience regardless of the platform.”

Delivering high-quality, 3D multi-channel listening experience, DTS UltraPC II Plus is comprised of seven technologies:

DTS Surround Sensation™: Simulates a surround sound listening experience from two speakers or stereo headphone
DTS Boost™: Maximizes acoustic power of the internal notebook speakers to deliver loudness levels while avoiding distortion
DTS Audio Restoration™: Intelligently analyzes audio signals for restoration of compressed or re-mastered percussion and transient sounds, restoring the punch and clarity from compression
DTS Enhance™: Enhances low and high frequency audio by improving the natural timbre balance, and brightening the quality of voice and musical tone for MP3, streaming audio and internet TV media consumption
DTS Clear Voice™: Suppresses feedback from speakers and improves speech perception in a noisy environment with a combination of Noise Suppression, Acoustic Echo Cancellation and Beam Forming technologies
DTS Symmetry™: Resolves volume fluctuation between multiple audio sources by balancing perceived volume levels
DTS Clear Audio™: Intelligently adjusts at specific frequencies to compensate when environmental noise is detected

Combined, the seven technologies create a superior PC audio experience and deliver an engaging surround sound effect -- a three-dimensional wall of sound that exceeds the limitations of just two speakers, making listeners believe that sounds are occurring outside those limited boundaries.

“We decided to embrace the UltraPC II Plus for our all-in-one laptop PC so that consumers could experience greater enjoyment of music and videos on their PCs,” said Tatsuya Takagi, Senior Director, Fujitsu Personal Systems Business Unit. “We believe that the high quality sound offered by UltraPC II Plus ensures that consumers can experience unprecedented levels of entertainment performance.”

The newest integration of DTS technology in Fujitsu computers marks the latest milestone in the growth of DTS, a company that has become a household name in the HD entertainment space. In addition to expanding its audio technologies into a new generation of network-enabled PCs, DTS audio technology can also be found in smartphones, HDTVs and digital media players.
