Al Ain Police Directorate launches new services for seniors and people with special needs
ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Saturday, August 10th 2013 [ME NewsWire]
The Al Ain Police Directorate launched a set of new services for community members notably the elderly and people with special needs. This aims to facilitate their transactions without the need to visit police stations in their areas of residence, with a view to provide high-quality police services to nationals and residents, strengthen societal ties and increase public confidence in the Police.
Major General Mohammed bin Al Awadhi Al Menhali, Director General of Police Operations at Abu Dhabi Police said: “This step comes in line with the ‘Hope Plant’ initiative implemented as per the instructions of Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, to provide humanitarian services to all segments of society.”
He also stressed the leadership’s keenness to provide all forms of support and care for these categories, and enable them to obtain police services from their preferred locations. He stressed the importance of cooperation between all departments in the service of these groups, considered as an integral part of society. This comes in line with the joint societal responsibility to provide the best public services by the various institutions and departments.
According to Brigadier Hamad Ajlan Al Amimi, Director of the Al Ain Police Directorate, the elderly and people with special needs can directly call all the Al Ain Police Directorate’s police stations and the Operations Room at the Directorate to request help, or report any criminal incidents. Moreover, the directorate dispatches its police staff members and judicial officers to help the elderly and people with special needs complete their transactions from the convenience of their homes, without having to visit police stations, taking into account their health condition.
He also noted that streamlining procedures for these categories embodies the strategy of Abu Dhabi Police GHQ; which stems from the attention it dedicates to all categories and segments of society. It also comes in line with the police leadership’s humanitarian approach aimed at helping seniors and people with special needs achieve their full rights similar to other individuals in the State, out of gratitude for a segment of society that was instrumental in building the nation, as well as to improve the quality of services provided by the police to the public.
It is noteworthy that the “Hope Plant” Initiative includes several activities, services and projects organized by the Ministry of Interior, including "Friends of the Police" program, and supporting the disabled, along with other activities and services for people with special needs.
