Libyan Delegation Reviews MoI’s E-passport Experience

The Ministry of Interior briefed its Libyan counterpart’s delegation on its electronic passport experience, its phases, as well as the legislation and regulations applicable in this context.

Major General Khalifa Hareb Al Khaili, Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of the Interior for Resources and Support Services, met the Libyan delegation, headed by Colonel Mustafa Ali Mohammed Al Arish, Legal Counsel with the Libyan Passports Department. Both parties exchanged views on a number of issues of mutual interest.

The delegation examined the experience of the Ministry of Interior in issuing electronic passports during a visit to the Directorate General of Naturalization, at the Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of the Interior for Naturalization, Residence and Ports Affairs’ office.

The delegation was received by Brigadier Saeed Rakan Al Rashedi, Head of the Naturalization Department; Lt. Colonel TalebAl Mahmoud, Head of the Media and Public Relations Section; Lt. Colonel Khamis Al Kaabi, Legal Advisor at the Office of the Assistant Undersecretary for Naturalization, Residency and Ports Affairs; and Lt. Colonel Matar Kharbash, Head of E-services Department at the Naturalization, Residency and Ports Affairs sector.

The delegation was briefed on the workflow at the Naturalization Department and visited the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs, where they were received by Colonel Salim Ali Al Qattam Al Zaabi, Director General of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Abu Dhabi, and a number of officers from the directorate.

The Libyan delegation toured the General Directorate, including the Visa and the Residency Department. The delegation was also briefed on the workflows, procedures for issuing visas, its different phases, as well as the time required to issue various types of entry visas.

The head of the Libyan delegation expressed their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the officials at the Naturalization, Residency and Ports Affairs Sector. “This visit has helped me and my companions to learn about the UAE’s progress and development in terms of security,” he said. At the end of the visit, both parties exchanged commemorative gifts and shields.
