The Police Schools Department at Abu Dhabi Police has ranked first at the Abu Dhabi Pistol Shooting Championship, which was held recently. The ICT Department of Abu Dhabi Police ranked second at the event, while the Peripheral Regions Directorate ranked third. The Abu Dhabi Pistol Shooting Championship took place as part of the 2014 sport activities season, and was organized by the Sports Activity Section of the Strategy and Performance Development Department at Abu Dhabi Police GHQ, where 85 participants from 17 departments from the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ competed in the event.
Colonel Mohammed Hamid bin Dalmouj Al Dhaheri, Strategy and Performance Development Director General, the General Secretariat of the Office of H.H Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, stressed Abu Dhabi Police GHQ’s keenness to support individual and group activities, including shooting, in order to maintain the level of fitness and readiness of the officers and soldiers. He said that Abu Dhabi Police GHQ’s achievements made in the shooting competition bode well. He thanked the various departments for their interaction and participation in such competitions that serve policing and realize the goals of Abu Dhabi Police’s strategy.
He added that the quality of the championship indicates the advanced levels of the various sporting championships held by the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ, represented by the Sports Activity Section at the Strategy and Performance Development Department at Abu Dhabi Police GHQ within its sports season.
For his part, Captain Jamal Al Saadi, National Teams and Competitions Branch Manager, stated that the Pistol Shooting Championship witnessed strong competition between the departments. He said that the gap between the participants was small, and the championship focused on the distances and proper timings, the things that contribute to developing police men’s skills, as well as policing in general.
