Minister of Interior’s Cricket Cup Concluded


Amid a significant presence of fans and lovers of the game

The Indian team won the Minister of Interior’s Cricket Cup after defeating the Sri Lankan team in the finals. The competition, which was held under the patronage of Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, took place at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi. Four cricket champions were competing to win the cup: India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
Mohammed Khalfan Al Rumaithi, Deputy General Commander of Abu Dhabi Police; Lt. Colonel Mubarak Bin Muhairom, Head of the Community Police Department at Abu Dhabi Police; cricket fans and fans of the participating teams attended the championship that was very competitive.
The teams played a primary round, where each team pushed as hard as they could to reach the final. India managed to qualify for the final after defeating Pakistan, whose fans were shocked to see their team leave the championship at the semi-final. On the other hand, Sri Lanka defeated Bangladesh and progressed to the final game against India.
The final game, which was between India and Sri Lanka and lasted until 11:00 pm, was very competitive. A large number of the Indian team’s supporters came out to support their team, who was able to win this championship.
The event, which was organized by the Abu Dhabi Police and UAE Exchange and Xpress Money, took place as part of an awareness campaign organized by the Community Police Department. The campaign aims to raise awareness among Asian laborers in the country, introducing them to the objectives of the Community Police, and spread the spirit of safety and security among residential and labor communities in the UAE.
The championship launched recently was accompanied by various Asian art and cultural activities. Different Asian communities participated in these activities. Furthermore, on the sidelines of the final match, a number of Abu Dhabi Police’s strategic internal and external partners participated in an awareness exhibition. These entities included: the Emirates Red Crescent; Emirates Heritage Club; Khalifa Police Station; the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs; The National Health Insurance Company – Daman; and Abu Dhabi National Islamic Finance (ADNIF).
Mohammed Khalfan Al Rumaithi, Deputy General Commander of Abu Dhabi Police, presented the championship cup to the Indian team. Lt. Colonel Mubarak Bin Muhairom and officials from UAE Exchange and Xpress Money were in attendance.
