Abu Dhabi Police Celebrates Arab Human Rights Day
ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Monday, March 17th 2014 [ME NewsWire]
Abu Dhabi Police commemorated Arab Human Rights Day by communicating with the public and providing a toll free number that helps protect them and helps combat human trafficking.
Colonel Dr. Rashid Mohammed Borshid, Head of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at Abu Dhabi Police GHQ, said that Abu Dhabi Police participated in the “Arab celebration” on Sunday by setting up awareness pavilions at the Mushrif Mall in Abu Dhabi and the Al Bawadi Mall in Al Ain.
He also said that as part of the participation, awareness booklets were distributed. The booklets included an introductory guide about the Anti-human Trafficking Section at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), describing the UAE’s efforts in combating human trafficking. Another booklet explains the Arab Human Rights Day celebration, which was organized by the Human Rights Department, at the General Secretariat of the Office of His Highness Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Interior.
Moreover, he emphasized Abu Dhabi Police’s efforts in combating human trafficking. He said that this embodies the UAE government’s great interest in human rights issues, in line with the well-established religious and ethical values, cultural heritage, and the importance of human and fundamental rights protection.
“Abu Dhabi Police responds earnestly and in an organized manner to all types of human trafficking crimes, through an integrated legislative and regulatory system set up by the UAE Government. The concerned authorities in the state work together in order to implement and activate the system, not to mention the positive and active contribution of the international community’s efforts to stop these crimes, pursue criminals, and provide victims with assistance,” he added.
In conclusion, the Head of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at Abu Dhabi Police urged the public to cooperate and report any kind of crimes or suspicions related to human trafficking. This can be done by calling the toll free number 8007283, so that Abu Dhabi Police can perform its competencies and duties in combating this crime and provide victims with care, in coordination with the Ewa’a Shelters and other concerned authorities.
