“VERTIGO” is addressed by the 4th Biennial Emirates Physiotherapy Conference 2012

Dr Abduladheem Kamkar, the Chairman of the Conference said, “The 4th Biennial Emirates Physiotherapy Conference - Physio Dubai 2012 will be addressing for the first time a common condition among population - Vertigo.”

Dr Redha Dashti, one of the invited speakers for the conference and expert in the field of Vestibular Rehabilitatio highlights certain issues on Vestibular Rehabilitation. According to Dr Dashti, “VERTIGO is one of the most common symptoms that a patient with an inner ear problem complains of. Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV) is the most common problem referred to or seen in ENT department. This disease induced vertigo with a specific head position for example when looking to the ceiling or lying on the affected ear. This happens because some of crystals in the inner ear are displaced from its origin location. Physical maneuvers for treating BPPV are the best conservative treatment available and its success is more than 95%. These maneuvers return the displaced crystals to their original location. Usually 1-2 maneuvers can make it. You may be suffering vertigo for years and you can recover from it within days. There are no too late for vestibular rehabilitation. Most of the people may also complain of instability in sitting, standing and walking. These patients can get a lot of help by vestibular rehabilitation.” Dr Redha Dashti is holding his Pre Conference Course on Vestibular Rehabilitation at Latifa Hospital on the 18th and 19th May 2012 from 0800 – 1700 hrs. This course is for all who are interested to learn about Vestibular Rehabilitation.
