Western Region Police and Operations Department Celebrate Arab Human Rights Day

The Western Region Police Directorate participated in the celebration of Arab Human Rights Day, which was held on Sunday at the directorate’s headquarters.

Colonel Ojeil Ali Abdullah Al Junaibi, Director of the Western Region Police Directorate, stressed the police's keenness to protect human rights and its determination to keep up with national and international developments in this field, as well as to increase the level of respect towards human rights among its staff members.

The Director of the Western Region Police Directorate praised the continuous efforts exerted by concerned parties and specialized groups, and the cooperation and organization with all concerned entities, to achieve the best practices that enhance the country's stature on both regional and international levels. He also pointed out to efforts made by the police in seeking capacity building with a view to provide care and preserve human rights and protect victims.

With help from the Public Relations and Social Police Sections, the Western Region Police distributed educational brochures about the importance of Human Rights in a number of malls and Tamm service centers. A number of educational lectures about human rights were organized and visits to citizens’ local councils were conducted. . A number of employees were also honored at the directorate.

The Operations Department at the General Directorate of Central Operations at Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters also organized an exhibition at Marina Mall on Monday to mark the occasion of the Arab Human Rights Day, which is celebrated on the 16th of March every year. This celebration falls in line with the social responsibility and external communication initiative, and Abu Dhabi Police's keenness to participate in national, regional, and international events.

Specialized staff members spoke to the public about services provided by the Operations Department for the service of different society segments, related to preserving human rights and property at the exhibition that lasted for 2 days. The public was also acquainted with the 999 hotline's role at the Operations Room, urging them to call this number during emergencies, and the automatic fire alarm system.

The exhibition staff provided the public with an explanation about the 5999 SMS Project, dedicated to communicating with the disabled, in case they suffer from any incidents or emergencies. This project aims to communicate quickly with the disabled, fulfill their needs, quickly respond and send ambulances to the scene of the accident, and grant great importance to the disabled's notifications and incidents.

During the exhibition, the public received booklets aiming to acquaint them with the Charter of Human Rights. Gifts for children were also distributed.
