Dubai, United Arab Emirates - Sunday, October 6th 2013 [ME NewsWire]
Dubai
Knowledge Village (DKV), part of TECOM Investments, this week
celebrates a decade of recruiting, training and developing the region’s
workforce. Founded in October 2003 by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin
Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and
Ruler of Dubai, the business park remains the world’s only free zone
dedicated to human resource management.
The anniversary was
commemorated with a grand ceremony hosted at DKV’s Auditorium on the 2nd
October. Both Dr Abdulla Al Karam, Chairman of the Board of Directors
and Director General of the KHDA, and Dr Ayoub Kazim, Managing Director
of Dubai Knowledge Village, delivered key note speeches to an audience
of key industry players, representatives from the UAE Government and
DKV’s 500 business partners.
DKV also used the opportunity to
publicly thank and congratulate 40 business partners that have been with
the business park since the beginning, actively supporting the
Government’s goal to develop the region’s talent pool and transform the
UAE into a knowledge economy. During the event, DKV also announced plans
to launch an online portal that will act as a comprehensive database on
the various services offered by DKV’s business partners.
Dr.
Ayoub Kazim, Managing Director of Dubai Knowledge Village, said:
“Changing workforce demographics and global talent trends require
companies to be increasingly strategic and analytical about how they
recruit, engage, deploy and retain their staff. Successful businesses
now see effective human resource management as a business imperative and
Dubai Knowledge Village has become a one-stop-shop for this.
“What
has been achieved at DKV in the past 10 years has been remarkable, and
we would like to thank our business partners who have helped us create
what is now a thriving global hub for human resource development.”
Dubai
Knowledge Village was originally conceived in 2003 to cater to the
training and development needs of growing free zone industries in the
Middle East. Over the past 10 years it has expanded its offering to
cover all human resource management functions such as HR consultancy,
executive search and training and development. Just last year, DKV
witnessed a 24% growth as a further 80 HR institutes signed up to the
business park, bringing the total to 500.
Amanda White, Managing
Director of Innovative HR Solutions, an awarding-winning human capital
consulting practice based at DKV since inception, said: “We have grown
as an organisation during our time at Knowledge Villages so much that we
had to double our office size in the business park. Having the Dubai
Knowledge Village brand behind us can only have helped.”
Dr. Eli
Abi Rached, Managing Director - Eton Institute, an international
language training and professional development provider, said, “At a
time when overseas companies are opening offices in the UAE, we remain
one of the very few organisations who have branched out from Dubai to
cities such as Vienna, New York, Washington D.C. and Abu Dhabi. Thanks
to Dubai Knowledge Village’s unique infrastructure, facilities and
comprehensive support system, managing growth is one of the key
challenges we face regularly and we are quite happy to tackle it every
time.”
Over the past 10 years, a number of government,
semi-government and private sector firms have benefited from DKV’s
business partner services, including: Emirates Airline; Sharjah Centre
for Cultural Communications; Bosch Middle East; DP World; Majid Al
Futtaim; InterContinental Hotel Group; and Prestigious Group.
DKV
business partners enjoy such free zone benefits as 100% foreign
ownership, 100% tax-free operations, 100% repatriation of profits and
effortless visa and licensing issuance procedures. In addition, DKV
provides a dedicated Partner Development Team to ensure the on-going
visibility and growth of partners through a number of initiatives.
