Abu Dhabi Police FanZone Activities launched on the Corniche


As part of the awareness campaign launched by the Security Media Department at the General Secretariat of the Office of H.H Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, the Abu Dhabi Police kicked off the “FanZone” Entertainment program events on Abu Dhabi Corniche. The event, held under the slogan “The Road Has its Ethics and Speed has its Track”, is part of the current preparations ahead of the “Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix,” which will be hosted at Yas Marina Circuit on 1-3 November 2013.
Lieutenant Colonel Saeed Al Khajah, Deputy Director of Security Media Department, the General Secretariat of the Office of H.H. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, stressed on the continued commitment of Abu Dhabi Police to keep pace with societal events, in implementation of the police general headquarters’ policy to interact  with the various sectors of society. This philosophy is in keeping with its strategic priorities, to tirelessly improve safety and security standards in society, and achieve the policing and security objectives using contemporary and innovative methods.
Lieutenant Colonel Al Khajah emphasized the importance of boosting partnership and cooperation with the various media organizations, to enhance community awareness on a wide range of traffic-related topics. This aims at reducing traffic accidents and their resulting human and material losses. “The various media have an instrumental role in providing members of the public with the information and knowledge necessary to enhance their traffic-related awareness,” noted Al Khajah.
The “FanZone” activities witnessed significant turnout from the public on the Abu Dhabi Corniche. As part of the exhibition, the Abu Dhabi Police displayed the educational patrol, and distributed awareness-raising pamphlets and publications. It also showcased the auto simulation show, which acquainted visitors with safe driving methods. The Smart car was also there to educate children above the age of 10 years about road and safety rules and regulations.
Parents and children were also introduced to the importance of seatbelts and using child car seats in the rear seats of vehicles.
The event will take place daily starting at 5 pm until 11 pm, and will run till November 2nd.
