ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Monday, October 7th 2013

Major General Khalifa Hareb Al Khaili, Acting Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for Naturalization, Residency and Ports Affairs, was briefed on Al Ghuwaifat Port’s Passports Section’s preparations to carry out the transactions of citizens and residents from the UAE as well as the Sultanate of Oman, who are departing via the port to Saudi Arabia to perform the Hajj this year. He was also briefed on the transaction completion procedures and the time it takes to complete transactions.

This briefing came during Major General Al Khaili’s inspection visit on Sunday morning at the Al Ghuwaifat Port’s Passports Section. The visit included the tents allotted for services to pilgrims and the pilgrims’ health clinic. Major General Al Khaili was also informed about the workflow in those tents, the facilities provided to pilgrims, the necessary medical examinations and medicines provided for patients, and the ambulance that is equipped to transport patients to the nearest hospital if required.

Major General Al Khaili affirmed that the port is considered to be one of the most important border ports in the state; it has garnered this reputation from the sheer density of traffic from entering and exiting passengers and trucks that it encounters. Its importance also stems from the outstanding services provided by the Ministry of Interior, which is represented by the Naturalization, Residency and Ports Affairs department, the police, the customs authority, and other supporting authorities that are making great efforts to facilitate the pilgrims’ departure procedures and ensuring a smooth flow of entry and exit traffic for the travelers passing through the port.

Al Khaili praised the efforts undertaken by the port’s staff and the services they offer to travelers urging them to continue their efforts of providing the facilities and services to travelers. He invited them to strengthen cooperation and coordination with the different authorities in the port.

The Acting Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for Naturalization, Residency and Ports Affairs was accompanied by Brigadier Ghareeb Al Hosani, Director General of the Ports and Airports Security Department; Colonel Salim Al Qattam Al Zaabi, Director General of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Abu Dhabi; and Major Mohsen Al Hashemi from the Assistant Undersecretary’s Office.

Major General Al Khaili was received by Lieutenant Colonel Ghanem Hariz Al Mazrouei, Head of Al Ghuwaifat Port Passport Section; Major Khalfan Butti Al Kubaisi, Director of the Western Region Residency and Foreigners Affairs Department; and a number of officers from the port.

The visit stems from the Ministry of Interior’s commitment to provide the necessary requirements to serve all travelers, especially pilgrims, and to analyze and identify obstacles to the productive workflow at the port.
