Panel of smart grid experts to explore challenges and updates to globally relevant standards

(BUSINESS WIRE)-- IEEE Standards Association (IEEE-SA), today announced it is hosting a comprehensive one-day Standards Workshop on 19 December during EnergyCon 2010, IEEE’s first Energy Conference and Exhibition, taking place in Manama, Bahrain, 18-22 December. The IEEE EnergyCon Opening Ceremony will be held Under the Patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain.
IEEE EnergyCon provides an international forum for the exchange of innovative technologies related to the oil, gas and alternative energy industries. Sessions include presentations on alternative energy such as hydrogen, solar power, wind power, heat transfer and renewable ocean energy technologies.
The full day Standards Workshop, being conducted as part of IEEE EnergyCon, will address the significant role that globally relevant standards play in international industry, compliance, and relations. The information sessions will provide an overview of IEEE-SA, including the standards landscape and process. Emphasis will be placed on how individuals and entities around the world engage in IEEE-SA activities, such as IEEE Standards Committees and Working Groups. Technical subjects and discussions will cover Smart Grid, Energy Efficiency, Arc Flash, and Hazardous Areas.
