MoI signs Two Cooperation Agreements with Microsoft and Samsung

The Ministry of Interior’s pavilion at Gitex 2013 at Sheikh Saeed Hall in the Dubai World Trade Centre is witnessing a high level of activity. The second day of the exhibition, which started on Sunday, hosted a number of officials and visitors, who were interested in the most advanced smart, security and electronic services presented by the ministry.

Her Excellency Mariam Mohammed Khalfan Al Roumi, the Minister of Social Affairs, overviewed the different initiatives and services and listened to an explanation about the most important initiatives, services and smart solutions. HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Butti Al Hamed, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, also visited the pavilion and listened to an explanation detailing the ministry’s participation in the exhibition.

The MoI’s pavilion witnessed the signing of two cooperation agreements with Microsoft and Samsung. Colonel Anwar Al Mulla, Head of ICT Department, signed the agreement on behalf of the ministry, and Young Soo Kim and Samer Abu Latif represented Samsung and Microsoft respectively.

Al Mulla said that the agreement with Samsung implies providing various mobile devices produced by the company in conformity with police needs to perform their work. It provides the ministry with control programs for these devices as well.

He added that the agreement signed with Microsoft relates to establishing an Information Technology Academy. The company provides multiple training programs pursuant to the agreement that serve the needs of various categories starting from the basic level in the field of Information and Communications Technology.

Samer Abu Latif, regional general manager of Microsoft Gulf, stated that the company looks forward through this internal memorandum of agreement to facilitating the technology infrastructure and building skills of the Punitive & Correctional Institutions’ inmates. “We believe that this initiative will help in developing skills required to rehabilitate inmates, prepare them to enter the market, and equip them with competitive talents necessary to achieve success,” he stated.
