Al Ain Residency services from seniors and people with special needs’ preferred locations
The Al Ain Residency and Foreigners Affairs Department recently launched the “Closer to You” Initiative, to ensure access to the department’s services to all community members, notably senior citizens and people with special needs at their homes. This initiative embodies the strategy of continuous development of services, and reflects the Naturalization, Residency, and Ports Sector’s vision to provide high-quality services to the public.
Major General Khalifa Hareb Al Khaili, Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for Naturalization, Residency and Ports, reiterated the police leadership’s commitment to provide all forms of support and care for these categories, and enable them to obtain police services from their preferred locations. He stressed the importance of cooperation between all departments in the service of these groups, considered as an integral part of society. This comes in line with the joint societal responsibility to provide the best public services by the various institutions and departments.
He also stated: “This step comes in line with the ‘Hope Plant’ initiative implemented as per the instructions of Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, to provide humanitarian services to this particular segment of society.”
Colonel Khalifa Matar Al Humairi, Head of Al Ain Residency and Foreigners Affairs Department, explained that this initiative was set up following extensive search to review the best practices in customer service. It includes assessing customers’ needs, and classifying them in categories, depending on their requirements and conditions.
“The ‘Closer to You’ Initiative was launched with a view to improve the experience of customers from the elderly and people with special needs category and build their confidence by providing better and unified standards of services. “This initiative aims at creating a distinguished customer service culture, where the prevailing standards are excellent and customer-centric service, to achieve the sector’s ultimate objectives, to provide high-end services and maintain the public’s confidence, as per the UAE Distinguished Government Service Excellence Program’s standards and principles,” he added.
Moreover, he indicated this service is provided to applicants from the above-mentioned categories through employees available to complete their procedures and transactions on their behalf. He also pointed out that the service can be requested by the elderly and people with special needs by directly calling the contact number allocated for this end to indicate the type of required transaction. A competent team of staff members are then dispatched to seniors and people with special needs, to complete their transactions from the convenience of their homes, without having to visit police stations.
The initiative’s launch was attended by Colonel Yusuf Ismail Khouri, Deputy Director General of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Abu Dhabi; Colonel Khalifa Matar Al Humairi, Head of Al Ain Residency and Foreigners Affairs Department; as well as heads of departments and a number of officers from the Al Ain Residency and Foreigners Affairs Department.
It is noteworthy that the “Hope Plant” Initiative includes several activities, services and projects organized by the Ministry of Interior, including "Friends of the Police" program, and supporting the disabled, along with other activities and services for people with special needs.
