ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Friday, April 18th 2014
The
Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters, represented by the Cultural and
Social Activities Section at the Police Officers’ Clubs Department,
concluded the “Friends of the Police” Program for children of officers,
non-commissioned officers, and civilians working at the Ministry of
Interior and Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters, and retired
officers. A total of 60 officers’ children aged between 7 and 14 years
took part in the program, which is taking place during the second
semester vacation of the year 2013-2014. Moreover, 43 top achieving male
and female school students were honored at Abu Dhabi Police Officers’
Club, in the presence of Colonel Aref Saif Al Shamesi, Head of Clubs and
Sports Activities Department, and a number of officers, civilians and
families of students taking part in the “Friends of the Police”.
Colonel
Aref Saif Al Shamesi stressed the importance of the program in
providing children with skills that benefit them in their future life.
He added that the second semester's program focused on training students
on horse riding at the Baniyas Equestrian Centre, in addition to a
number of sports and recreational activities.

Friends of the Police. 43 distinguished students were also honored, as
an incentive for them to exert serious efforts and diligent work in
their studies," he added.
A group of Al Ain officers' children
had visited the Traffic Institute Section of the Abu Dhabi Police Patrol
and Traffic Directorate, accompanied by Captain Abdullah Al Tawir Al
Ameri of Al Ain Police Officers Club, who organized a number of events
to fill children’s leisure time during the second semester vacation.
Captain
Awad Said Al Afari, Acting Chief of Al Ain Traffic Institute Section
who greeted students upon their arrival, said: "This visit falls under
the continuous cooperation and coordination between the Traffic and
Patrols Directorate and the different society segments, with a view to
spread traffic culture among all categories of society."
As part
of the visit, students were acquainted with the vehicles, equipment and
mechanisms used by the section, as well as the Chevy Camaro sports
patrol car. They were also given an overview of the educational role
played by the section’s staff members. The program also included a
traffic education lecture, and the distribution of memorial gifts and
educational brochures. Memorial pictures were taken at the end of the
closing ceremony.
