The Al Ain Traffic Section, at the Traffic and Patrols Directorate of Abu Dhabi Police, implemented an awareness initiative on the five causes of traffic accidents; within the third traffic awareness campaign for 2013. This initiative is part of the traffic sector initiatives to improve road safety, organized under the slogan “A Summer without Accidents", as well as “Your Safety Campaign”, which is implemented by the Directorate General of Police Operations, in cooperation with the Security Media Department, the General Secretariat of the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior.
In this context, the Al Ain Traffic Department intensified its awareness-raising activities with a lecture titled “Awareness on the five causes of accidents”. The lecture, which targeted 120 drivers from six transport companies, aims to acquaint motorists with the five main causes of accidents, namely; speed without taking road conditions into account; not giving priority to pedestrians; not adhering to the road lane; failure to leave sufficient safe distance between vehicles; and not knowing how to drive.
Major Salah Abdulalh Al Hemairi, Head of Al Ain Traffic Section emphasized the keenness to promote traffic safety essentials by complying with the laws and acquainting community members with the human and economic losses associated with traffic accidents; stressing the need for concerted efforts to reduce traffic accidents, and their resulting deaths and serious injuries. He also pointed out that an integrated awareness plan has been established, and includes preparing publications, lectures, and exhibitions; as well as awareness-raising programs through various media.
Moreover, the Al Ain Traffic Section organized awareness lectures within the awareness campaigns to promote road safety; aimed at intensifying patrols in crowded places and acquainting the public with the importance of adhering to traffic laws and regulations.
