Religious Lectures at Police Schools on the Importance of Work in Ramadan

The Police Schools Department at the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ organized a number of religious lectures in Sweihan, on the importance of work and worship during Ramada. The lecture was delivered by Sheikh Omar bin Hussein Al Khatib and Professor Dr. Nazih Abdul Maqsood Mohammed, and attended by the department’s staff members and the 400 students of the basics courses for the batches of recruits no. 88, 89 and 90. It comes in line with the Program of Scholars, Guests of HH, Sheikh Khalifa the UAE President, for the Holy Month of Ramadan.

The lectures focused on the importance of work during Ramadan, the month of mercy and forgiveness. It shed light on the laws (Sunan) and good deeds to be carried out on the personal and social levels. The lecture stressed on the importance of worship in the last days of the Holy Month as well as the reward of the Night of Revelation (Lailat Al - Qadr). It also discussed ways of coming close to the almighty God through benevolent and humanitarian work, hard work and following good morals and self-discipline.  It also stressed the importance of following the example of Prophet Mohammed, Peace Be upon Him, in tolerance and charity.

Colonel Waleed Salim Al Shamesi, Head of the Police Schools Department, stressed the importance of organizing these lectures, to enhance religious awareness among male and female recruits of the basic courses. “These lectures contribute to implant Islamic values in their souls and strengthen their faith, in line with the Ramadan spirituality. They also help recruits achieve happiness and learn to adhere to the true meaning of Islam as per the methods of moderation,” he said.

It is noteworthy that the Public Relations Branch at the department organized and prepared for these lectures, as part of its commitment to implement an educational awareness program for both employees and students during the Holy Month.
