ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Sunday, July 21st 2013 [ME NewsWire]
The
registration process for the E-gate Project at the Khalidiyah Mall
Center began today. The registration is applicable for citizens of the
UAE and the GCC, residents, and individuals who have an entry visa (from
the port). Registrations will continue until next Thursday.
Major
Mohammad Ahmad Al Zaabi, Director of the E-port Project, stated that
registration was strong on the first day, saying that it began at 10
a.m. and concludes at 10 p.m. He further noted that it is
free-of-charge.
He added that those wishing to register should
bring their passports. The Ministry of Interior has allocated special
counters for women; there are other counters for individuals with
special needs at the Abu Dhabi Mall Center. Emirati citizens have a
separate counter, and there are three counters for residents and
visitors.
He said that the project simplifies travel procedures
through the country’s ports and streamlines travelers’ entry and exit by
leveraging the eye and face scan, and the passport reader.
