The
Abu Dhabi Police GHQ launches a media awareness campaign under the
slogan, “Your Safety” to coincide with the Holy Month of Ramadan. This
campaign is implemented by the Directorate General of Police Operations
in cooperation with the Security Media Department, the General
Secretariat of the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of
Interior.
Major General Mohammed bin Al Awadhi Al Menhali,
Director General of Police Operations at Abu Dhabi Police noted that the
initiative complements the media campaigns launched periodically by the
Abu Dhabi Police in preparation for the Holy Month of Ramadan. The
campaigns aim to harness efforts during religious occasions, to ensure
the public’s comfort and safety.
“The Ramadan awareness campaign
includes several humanitarian and spiritual programs and activities
implemented by various service departments at the Ministry of Interior.
The aim is to alleviate fasting in every possible way, in areas
related to traffic safety, security, and prevention The initiatives will
continue throughout the summer, the Holy Month of Ramadan, and other
holidays,” added Major General Al Menhali.
Furthermore, Major
General Al Menhali pointed out that the Security Media Department will
propagate a series of awareness advertisements highlighting the topics
of the ‘Your Safety’ campaign initiatives, on giant screens installed in
Abu Dhabi shopping malls, a number of residential buildings, and police
departments. “The awareness messages conveyed through these screens aim
to enhance public safety and develop the traffic and security culture.
In addition, awareness messages will be displayed on the Abu Dhabi
Police GHQ’s website and social network sites such as Facebook and
Twitter,” he continued.
He explained that the public will be
notified about working hours in the various police departments during
Ramadan through the website, and other types of media (print and
broadcast). He also indicated that traffic awareness activities to
enhance motorists’ safety will continue; along with the Ramadan
Councils, which aims to increase police, legal and security awareness on
key issues that concern community members.
Al Menhali
underscored the police campaigns and initiatives’ important role in
promoting public awareness on safety and prevention measures. He also
praised the cooperation of the media and its interaction with the police
entities’ modern approach. This comes in line with the police
leadership’s directives, which call for further concerted efforts to
fulfill the requirements of this phase, through diligent work,
outstanding commitment and creativity, at a time when the country is
transitioning towards an e-government, which reaches the vast majority
of people.
“As part of the ’Your Safety’ campaign, police patrols
are carrying out a humanitarian initiative during the Holy Month of
Ramadan to distribute Iftar meals to motorists at intersections on a
number of roads in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, in cooperation with various
charitable and humanitarian organizations. This initiative aims to
boost relations between the police and community members, and to reduce
traffic accidents,” noted Major General Al Menhali.
Concluding,
he lauded the national initiatives and purposeful proposals implemented
by governmental agencies and private sector institutions during the Holy
Month of Ramadan, in coordination with the Abu Dhabi Police. These
initiatives aim to educate society about safety, to strengthen
partnership in the areas of security and media awareness and promote
collaborative action to safeguard the community against the various
risks and hazards.
