Lt.
General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and
Minister of Interior, met Markus Ulbig, the Minister of Interior of the
State of Saxony in Federal Germany, and his accompanying delegation at
his office on Sunday.
During the meeting, both parties reviewed
issues of mutual interest and discussed ways to strengthen the
cooperation between them in the fields of police work, training, and
student exchanges.
Present at the meeting were Major General
Nasser Lakhrebani Al Nuaimi, Secretary General of the Office of HH
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior; Major General Khalifa
Hareb Al Khaili, Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of the
Interior for Resources and Support Services; Major General Mohammed Al
Awadhi Al Menhali, Director General of Human Resources at Abu Dhabi
Police; Brigadier Eng. Hussain Ahmad Al Harthi, Director of Traffic and
Patrol Directorate at Abu Dhabi Police; and Colonel Saud Al Saadi,
Director of the Secretariat of the Office of HH the Minister. Also in
attendance were a number of police officers from Saxony and officials
from the German Embassy in the UAE.
As part of the cooperation
between the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters and the Ministry of
the Interior of Saxony, the German delegation visited the Police
Follow-up Department at the General Secretariat of the Office of HH
Deputy Prime Minister & Minister of Interior. They were briefed on
Abu Dhabi Police’ strategy related to police surveillance, its traffic
black point’s system and its tasks and efforts that are in line with the
best advanced global practices.
The German Minister and the
delegation were welcomed by Lieutenant Colonel Saif Obaid Al Khaili,
Director of the Police Follow-up Department and several officers. The
delegation was briefed on the goals, missions and duties of the
department. Al Khaili briefed them on the new electronic applications
used for police surveillance, and the black points imposed on law
violators. He explained that these are all new programs for Abu Dhabi
Police, through which they provide services and community-based feedback
in order to enhance the trust between society members and the police.
The
visiting German minister underscored the importance of exchange visits
between the two countries in order to benefit from them and share
experiences. He praised the joint relationship that bonds both Saxony
and Abu Dhabi Police forces in all fields of police work.
Ulbig
commended the experiences gained by the Police Follow-up Department
within the short time since its establishment, saying that the same
process can take years in other countries. He added that this reveals
the good working culture instilled in the personnel at Abu Dhabi police,
which is visible through their communication with the members of
society and their active participation.
