Abu Dhabi Community Police Department Prepares for International Cricket Tournament
ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Wednesday, March 26th 2014 [ME NewsWire]
The Community Police Department at Abu Dhabi Police, in cooperation with UAE Exchange, is preparing for the International Cricket Tournament that will be held next Friday at the Sheikh Zayed International Cricket Stadium in Khalifa City. The match is held under the title “The Minister of Interior’s Cricket Cup” and is organized under the patronage of Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior.
To this end, the Community Police Department held a meeting with security and organizational entities to discuss all procedures required to bring success to the tournament that is expected to draw thousands of attendees at the stadium and many more through different media outlets.
Major Yusuf Faraj Al Hassan, coordinator of the cricket event, said: “We have discussed all technical, security, organizational and logistical issues. We also discussed organizing the traffic on the roads leading to the stadium, in order to maintain smooth, uninterrupted traffic flow during the tournament. All the entry and exit gates of the stadium, as well as the spectators’ bleachers or stands, are all secured in order to maintain safety for everyone.
He added: “The different entities and departments that attended the meeting are all working together as one team to bring success to this event, which reflects the efforts of the UAE, represented by Abu Dhabi Police, in managing and organizing such an event. This competition aims on raising awareness, as many cricket stars from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka are participating.”
This activity, which is organized by Abu Dhabi Police, represented by the Community Police Department, in cooperation with UAE Exchange, is part of the Abu Dhabi Police’s awareness campaigns that target Asian residents and introduce them to the laws and rules of society.
Major Al Hassan also said: “On the sidelines of the tournament, there will be an exhibition taking place that involves a number of Abu Dhabi Police GHQ’s strategic partners, whose services target these communities.”
