ENEC delegation visits ADP Forensic Evidence Department

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Thursday, December 26th 2013

A delegation from the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC) reviewed the tasks and missions of The Forensic Evidence Department at the General Department for Security and Ports at the Abu Dhabi Police. The delegation was briefed on practical measures, including laboratory tests, followed by the functions of the department.

Colonel Abdul Rahman Al Hammadi, Head of the Forensic Evidence Department at the Directorate General of Security and Ports Affairs at Abu Dhabi Police, met the delegation and described the steps that were taken, as requested by the police force’s leadership, to develop the forensic labs in order to realize Abu Dhabi Police’s visions of achieving forensic justice and providing the best security services that support justice and stability.

The delegation watched a documentary on the development stages and improvements that were being made at the department, which met international standards and allowed it to receive international recognition. Meanwhile, the labs were recognized with certificates of excellence.

The delegates toured the labs, accompanied by Colonel Anwar Mahmoud Al Awadi, Head of the Chemical Analysis Section at the Forensic Evidence Department. They were briefed on the nature of the labs and methods of dealing with samples, both in the field and in the lab. They also reviewed forensic reports.

Tariq Khalfan Al Shamesi, head of the ENEC delegation, praised the role that Abu Dhabi Police plays in ensuring security and social stability, as well as its contribution to the development of the country. “The delegation reviewed lab test practices in general, and alcohol and poisonous drug tests in particular, in addition to work procedures, followed by the Forensic Evidence Department,” he said.

Al Shamesi, along with the delegates, expressed his admiration of the standards of development at the Forensic Evidence Department, which have made it one of the best labs in the world.

At the end of the visit, both sides exchanged mementos.
