Fire Extinguishing in Two Commercial Buildings in Al Ain Industrial Area

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Sunday, July 7th 2013 

The rapid intervention teams of the industrial area and Zakher, supported by teams from Al Ekabeya and Al Hili centers and from the civil defense center of Al Dhaher area, managed to control a fire in two commercial buildings in the industrial area in Al Ain.

The Al Ain Police Operations Room received a report at 3 pm on Saturday about a fire in two commercial buildings in the industrial area of Al Ain. The rapid intervention teams were dispatched immediately and began extinguishing the fire. After four hours, the fire was extinguished; the location was then cooled and observed for an additional period of 10 hours. There were no injuries or deaths resulting from the incident.

Lieutenant Colonel Hamar Ain Al Darmaki, Director of Al Ain Civil Defense Department, called upon citizens and residents to abide by necessary prevention and safety measures, and to turn off electrical switches. He reiterated the importance of ensuring the validity of electrical wiring and to not overload transformers especially as summer season is beginning. The summer heat plays a major role in the ignition of electrical wiring; the investigation is on-going to uncover cause of the fire.
