ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Friday, July 19th 2013 [ME NewsWire]
The
Abu Dhabi Police GHQ dispatched a delegation of women leaders to the
United Kingdom to attend the Leadership Development & Supervisory
Skills Program for Women for the MENA Region. The delegation included
Captain Faten Mohammed Manahi, Strategy Branch Manager, at the Director
General of Finance and Services’ Office; Lieutenant Jamila Abdurrahman
Yaqub, from the Medical Services Department; and Senior Administrative
Basma Talib Al Attas, Strategic Planning Branch Manager, at the Training
Department. It is noteworthy that the five-week program is organized in
cooperation with the Police College at Bramshill in the United Kingdom
and the National Policing Improvement Agency (NPIA).
This
initiative aims to develop women police staff members’ leadership and
supervisory skills; promote and develop leaders, and qualify them to
face difficulties and address them.
Captain Faten Manahi noted
that the training course featured various programs, methods and good
practices, which, if adopted by the officer or the leader, can
contribute to the success of the management and supervision process, and
reinforce personal development on the means to confront, control and
resolve problems.
Furthermore, she stressed the importance of
participating in the program, which enhances the exchange of expertise
with other police agencies (such as Bahrain, Yemen, Palestine and
Algeria Police), through the examples raised, in order to benefit from
them, and from the mutual practical experience in police work.
“Within
the framework of the Program, the delegation visited a number of police
stations, and was briefed on their experiences, with a view to benefit
from their expertise in the areas of joint work”, indicated Captain
Manahi.
“As part of the program, we have learned several methods
that can be followed to resolve problems that may face leaders and the
organization, such as the CUDSA system. We were also acquainted with the
role of leaders in management development, and other relevant topics”,
she added.
Moreover, she listed the lessons learned from the
training course, notably the “training in decision-making and character
analysis”. She explained that this method is very useful in profiling
staff personalities within an organization and choosing the appropriate
ways to deal with them. The course also included training on the Hydra
System; focusing on the importance of administrative motivation and its
positive impact on the Organization and personnel; and training on the
Control System and highlighting its role and importance; in addition to
several other programs and systems. It is noteworthy that the UAE
delegation received the CMI certification and membership at the end of
the course.
