Busan Metropolitan City to Host the 22nd Busan International Film Festival and G-STAR 2017

Busan Metropolitan City hosts the 22nd Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) and the Game Show and Trade, All-Round (G-STAR) 2017, an Global Game Exhibition. The 22nd BIFF will be held from October 12 to 21, with 298 films shown onto 32 screens, while G-STAR 2017, which is emerging as one of the world's top three gaming events, will take place from November 16 to 19 at BEXCO. During the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF), 298 films from 75 countries will be projected onto 32 screens at five major cinemas, Busan Cinema Center, CGV Centum City, Lotte Cinema Centum City, MEGABOX Haundae and Sohyang Theater Centum City in Busan. (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Busan Metropolitan City announced that it would host the 22nd Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) and the Game Show and Trade, All-Round (G-STAR) 2017, an Global Game Exhibition.

The 22nd BIFF will be held from October 12 to 21, with 298 films shown onto 32 screens, while G-STAR 2017, which is emerging as one of the world’s top three gaming events, will take place from November 16 to 19 at BEXCO.

During the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF), 298 films from 75 countries will be projected onto 32 screens at five major cinemas in Busan.
The festival will screen 100 world premieres (76 feature films, 24 short films), 29 international premieres (24 feature films, 5 short films), and 10 New Currents films.

Korea’s “Glass Garden,” directed by Shin Su-won, is set to open the festival. The closing film is “Love Education” by Taiwanese director Sylvia Chang. Since the establishment of BIFF, this is the first time the movies filmed by female directors will both open and close the Busan International Film Festival.
In the New Currents competition, 10 movies will be screened. Head juror for New Currents is Oliver Stone, one of the world’s greatest filmmakers.
During the film festival, Asian Film Market and Entertainment Intellectual Property (E-IP) Market will be opened to help make business deals. (Official website: www.biff.kr)

G-STAR 2017 will highlight the meaning of games and the experiences they offer through various events under the slogan “Complete your game!” During the G-STAR, BTB/BTC exhibitions, a market for game investors, a global game culture festival, eSports games and a game industry job fair, will be held as well.
Since its inception in Busan in 2009, G-STAR has continued to grow. It was the largest ever in 2016, with 653 companies from 35 countries setting up 2,719 booths and attracting 220,000 visitors. It has carried its weight as a hub of global game market.
G-STAR 2017 is an international game culture festival and the center of global game market which will serve as a venue for game launches and also a festive occasion to experience game culture as well as to make commercial deals. (Official website: www.gstar.or.kr)
