Pilgrims' Transactions Processed in Record Time at Al Mazyad Border Port

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates - Friday, September 26th 2014 [ME NewsWire]

Al Mazyad border port has made preparations to complete transactions in record time for pilgrims travelling by land passing through the port. To this end, tents have been set up that are fully equipped with all amenities and a wide range of services. These tents are to provide pilgrims with water bottles, fruit juices and dates, in order to make their travel comfortable.

"The port is operating at full power to expedite pilgrims' travel procedures in record time for each bus or vehicle, so they can continue their long journey to the Holy Land as soon as possible," said Lieutenant Colonel Mohamed Jameel Salim Al Wahaibi, Chief of Al Mazyad Border Port Police Section, affiliated to the Ports and Airports Security Department at the Directorate General of the Security and Ports Affairs at Abu Dhabi Police. He noted that there is full coordination and cooperation between all parties involved at the port; whether they belong to police or civil institutions. The number of personnel was also increased to ensure a speedy completion of all transactions and to provide emergency services in case of need.

Lieutenant Colonel Al Wahaibi also explained that leaflets on road safety  were distributed to pilgrims as per the "Your Safety" campaign implemented by the Security Media Department at the General Secretariat of the Office of H.H Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior. “Medical and ambulance services were also provided to deal with emergency situations in cooperation with safety and emergency teams, as well as civil defense teams at the port,” he added.

Lieutenant Colonel Al Wahaibi reiterated the keenness of Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters, represented by the Ports and Airports Security Department, to ensure that all pilgrim buses meet all safety and prevention requirements, and to carry out maintenance for buses transporting pilgrims before leaving the country. He also urged campaign organizers to make sure they have all bus official documents and personal identification papers, and to check the validity of traveling pilgrims’ passports and residence certificates.

In conclusion, Lieutenant Colonel Al Wahaibi called upon pilgrims travelling by land to abide by speed limits, and to follow road signs and instructions; and to refrain from overtaking to avoid dangerous accidents especially for light vehicles and those who carry heavy bags and travelling belongings.
