Police Swimming Championship to Kick Off September 9 in Dubai

The 3rd Police Swimming Championship, organized by the Police Sports Federation at the Ministry of Interior, will kick off on September 9 at Al Wasl Sports Club in Dubai. Several teams representing the various police general headquarters across the UAE will be taking part in the two-day championship.

It is worth mentioning that the consultative meeting was recently held at the Sharjah Federal Police School and chaired by Lieutenant Colonel Aref Ali Al Rais, Chief of the Sports Activities Section at the Police Sports Federation, in the presence of team directors and officials. During the meeting, attendees discussed the championship’s regulations and the preparations of the participating teams, as well as administrative and technical issues.

Lieutenant Colonel Aref Al Rais explained that the Police Swimming Championship will be one of the first championships to be organized by the Federation for this season. “It is a major event on the calendar of the Federation's championships schedule, for its important role in supporting national and police teams in the various tournaments held as part of the sports competition events,” he said.

"The championship will include a number of competitions, namely, 100 and 50 meters breaststroke, butterfly stroke, freestyle relay, and 50 and 100 meters freestyle swimming.  A total of 8 Police teams are to participate in this championship: Abu Dhabi Police GHQ, Dubai Police GHQ, Sharjah Police GHQ, Ajman Police GHQ, Ras al Khaimah Police GHQ, Al Fujairah Police GHQ, the Directorate General of Civil Defense, and the Directorate General of Special Security Forces,"  added Lieutenant Colonel Aref Al Rais. He also noted that the Police Sports Federation, in pursuance of the police leadership’s keenness, constantly seeks to develop sports games and championships in line with the desired sports-related goals.  He also emphasized that police sports championships are witnessing a significant development on all levels thanks to the unwavering efforts of the Police Sports Federation, which strives to ensure the success of these championships.
