Abu Dhabi traffic flowed normally on all roads today, Sunday, for the first day of the new academic year 2014-2015.
The
“Tathqeef” education patrols were deployed near schools in Abu Dhabi.
The patrols gave away souvenirs, congratulated students for the new
academic year and provided the guidance necessary to ensure their
safety.
Colonel Khamis Ishaq Mohammed, Deputy Director of the
Abu Dhabi Police Traffic and Patrols Directorate, inspected traffic on
the different roads within the city and around schools, making sure that
traffic flowed smoothly, without congestions or jams. Colonel Mohammed
extended his gratitude to students, teachers, and parents for the new
academic year, urging them to work hard and to adhere to the traffic
laws and regulations in order to guarantee the safety of their children
and themselves.
Colonel Mohammed called upon patrol personnel and
traffic controllers to behave well with motorists and parents
accompanying their children, and additionally provided them with traffic
instructions in order to promote traffic safety- particularly near
schools. Colonel Mohammed also called upon parents to drive safely and
carefully, to adhere to traffic laws and to stay away from any stress
accompanied to the first day of each academic year. Furthermore, Colonel
Mohammed urged school bus drivers and supervisors to follow the law and
the instructions of traffic personnel, to adhere to speed limits and
not to randomly park near schools.
Colonel Mohammed explained,
“We have set up a comprehensive plan to promote traffic safety over the
new academic year, with more than 140 patrols deployed across the
Emirate of Abu Dhabi. In order to achieve the safety of students,
individuals and road users, we will also intensify patrol presence at
intersections and internal and external roads.”
