Women Police Association Members Benefit From the “Be Ready” Initiative

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Tuesday, October 1st 2013

The Emirates Women Police Association’s members benefited from the “Be Ready” initiative, which was organized by the Women Support Center of the General Women Association in cooperation with the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority. The initiative aims to develop the skills of women police in the UAE and augment their experiences in the fields of emergency, crisis and disaster management. It also spreads awareness and knowledge among them, and teaches them how to take the right action in cases of emergency.

The initiative was launched following the directives of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Head of the General Women Association, the Supreme Chairperson of the Family Development Foundation, and Head of the Supreme Council of Motherhood and Childhood. The launch was attended by more than 150 women participants from the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Environment Agency- Abu Dhabi.

Major Amina Mohammed Khamis Al Bloushi, Chairwoman of the UAE Women Police Association, considers the “Be Ready” initiative to be a good step towards enhancing the awareness level of women in the field of emergency, crisis and disaster management. The initiative also addresses how to act in cases of such accidents and encourages females to develop themselves in the field of public safety by introducing them to the methods and techniques of facing accidents and spreading this culture among their families, according to Major Al Bloushi.

She added that the Women Police Association encourages women to participate in such initiatives to enable them to face emergencies efficiently, polish their skills, and prepare them to deal with conditions and developments that occur in disasters. Al Bloushi also expressed the willingness of the association to establish programs and plans focusing on raising the efficiency of women in confronting and reacting to disaster situations.
