UAE National Team Continues Preparations for the International Fire Fighter Challenge

The UAE Firefighters National Team is pursuing its extensive preparations for the 2014 UAE International Fire Fighter Challenge, in a boot camp held at the Civil Defense Academy in Abu Dhabi. The challenge will be one of the highlights of the International Exhibition for Security and National Resilience (ISNR Abu Dhabi 2014), which is set to take place on April 1-3, 2014 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC). It is organized by the Ministry of Interior, represented by the Civil Defense General Headquarters, in cooperation with 911 Fire Fighting and Occupational Safety Training Company.
A total of 18 teams will be participating in this championship, in addition to 120 individuals among the strongest and fastest firefighters in the region and the world. Participants will compete in different categories, to win the title and receive the biggest prizes and cash awards totaling $150,000. It is worth mentioning that the competitions are based on tasks and challenges that are very much part of a firefighter's daily life.
The UAE National Team's coaching staff is supervised by Major Mohammad Al Zaabi and led by Assistant Coach Hassan Al Bloushi from the General Directorate of Civil Defense in Dubai. Major Al Zaabi announced that the team includes 25 participants, undergoing daily training to enhance their physical fitness skills. “Participants are carrying out extensive sand and water running exercises, stair climbing, as well as training on the proper use of firefighting and rescue material and other physical activities to enhance their fitness. They are also acquainted with the competition's rules and regulations,” he said.
Major Al Zaabi expressed his extreme satisfaction with the distinguished preparation and achievements made by the UAE National Team. He added that the team's coaching staff and players have pledged to rise up to the challenge and to win the 2014 UAE International Fire Fighter Challenge held in the UAE. He praised the players' commitment and professional attitude during practice, which emphasizes their ambition to score a new achievement for the UAE at international forums.
The 2014 UAE International Fire Fighter Championship is the first-of-its-kind event in the Middle East, Europe and Africa. It consists of a series of unique motivational competitions that test firefighters’ basic fitness skills, stamina and innovation, as well as their capacity to exchange know-how with their colleagues. The competition will bring together the strongest and fastest firefighters and rescue workers from around the world and the region.
