ME NewsWire

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Thursday, October 10th 2013

The Emergency and Public Safety Department of the Abu Dhabi Police Central Operations Directorate General announced its readiness to welcome Eid Al-Adha and urged individuals and families to avoid accidents and fire hazards and supervise their children during the holidays.

Lieutenant Colonel Mohammed Ibrahim Al Ameri, Director of the Emergency and Public Safety Department at the Abu Dhabi Police Central Operations Directorate General, stated that ambulance and rescue crews are on standby in case of any emergency during the Eid Al-Adha holidays. Furthermore, he noted that these crews were equipped for rapid intervention in the event of any accident on the roads or in public places where significant numbers of people are expected to gather during Eid.

Lieutenant Colonel Al Ameri emphasized that preparations conducted by the Emergency and Public Safety Department are no different from any other period of the year, but the holidays are mainly accompanied by negligent behaviors by some people. Such behaviors may threaten the lives of citizens, such as neglecting safety requirements in kitchens or recklessness on roads or in parks, which are mostly overcrowded during the holidays.

In line with the “Your Safety” campaign and the awareness-raising initiative launched by Abu Dhabi Police, he urged the public to follow the preventive measures while cooking on gas stoves to prepare meals or using censers and grills in public places and parks. He also called on parents to supervise their children and protect them from accidents that may occur due to neglect and lack of attention. He stressed the importance of the "Your Safety" campaign, implemented by the Security Media Department, to increase the public’s awareness and protect them from risks.

Concluding, Lieutenant Colonel Al Ameri expressed his warm wishes to all UAE citizens and residents, wishing them a year full of happiness, health, and success.
