UAE Welcomes Magnet Forensics to VGT

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Monday, April 25th 2016 [ME NewsWire]

The United Arab Emirates (UAE), the current chair of the Virtual Global Taskforce (VGT), welcomed Magnet Forensics, the private industry leaders in the fight against online child sexual exploitation, as a new member of the VGT, the Global Alliance against online child abuse. Major General Dr. Nasser Lakhrebani Al Nuaimi, Secretary General of the Office of HH Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Chair of the VGT said: “The accession of private companies represents an added value to the objectives that the VGT endeavors to achieve, including building active partnerships with private sector companies to protect children against online sexual abuse.”

Major General Al Nuaimi also explained that the mechanism of accession of any international police authority or private company to the VGT is subject to strict procedures and criteria. He noted that this aims to assess the efficiency of the nominated members and the added value they may bring to the fight against online child sexual abuse.

Additionally, he underlined that the accession of institutions and companies from the private sector enjoying a long experience in the area of ​​the Internet, will help mitigate the increased damage of the dark side of the Internet, forcing them to move to combat them.

He said that the “VGT will further use its success in activating the role of police forces and their concerted efforts, and in mobilizing the world, the public opinion and the awareness raising and outreach institutions to devote their efforts to protect children and the childhood from any violations, by centering their efforts on child protection.”
