ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Sunday, June 21st 2015 [ME NewsWire]

The activities of the nationwide Ministry of Interior’s Ramadan Councils will kick off tomorrow evening, Monday. The nine councils are organized by the Law Respect Culture Bureau at the
General Secretariat of the Office of H.H Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior; and are a continuation of the councils that started in 2012 as an initiative by the Ministry of Interior (MoI) to engage citizens in interactive discussions regarding important topics.

This year’s councils will address the services of the MoI in five sectors: Police and Investigation Centers; Civil Defense and Public Safety; Naturalization, Residency, and Foreign Affairs; Traffic and Licensing; and Society Protection and Crime Prevention.

The first nationwide council will be held tomorrow and will address the MoI services in policing and investigation. It will focus on modern methods for combating crime, drug crimes in the UAE, and the prevalence of cyber-crimes. The second topic will discuss challenges of the MoI in carrying out its duties and in achieving its mission. It focuses on fostering the culture of reporting crimes and the importance of public cooperation in achieving the security objectives. Regarding the social aspect of security, the council will additionally focus on the impact of the culturally diverse nature of the UAE alongside the most common crimes in the UAE and what methods are being used to fight them.

The third topic will be dedicated for the public to provide their opinion and suggestions to be invested by the MoI in future planning and performance development.
