The
General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Abu Dhabi
welcomed the summer camp youngsters and accompanying teachers from the
Emirates Autism Society as they toured governmental departments and
institutions. This visit is part of the society’s recently launched
initiative entitled, ‘In the Footsteps of Zayed.’
The initiative
aims to emphasize the principles of humanitarian action and societal
values that are embedded in the hearts and minds of the people of this
beloved country by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. It also
aims to integrate children with autism and highlight their abilities to
make effective contributions within the community.
In his office,
Colonel Salim Ali Al Qattam Al Zaabi, Director General of Residency and
Foreigners Affairs in Abu Dhabi, met with Dr. Khawla Al Saadi, Chairman
of the Emirates Autism Society; and Salem Ali Al Hosani, Vice Chairman.
The meeting was attended by Colonel Yusuf Khouri, Deputy Director
General of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Abu Dhabi.
The
visit included the participation of autistic children in the “Zayed
Humanitarian Day” event, which marks the anniversary of the death of
late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. The children distributed prepaid
phone credits to low-income workers with the hope of enabling them to
communicate with their loved ones and their families. These actions are
to promote stability, harmony, and community support, which exemplify
the philanthropic values of the UAE’s founding father, late Sheikh Zayed
bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
The Director General of Residency and
Foreigners Affairs in Abu Dhabi presented the participating children
with a set of commemorative gifts in a bid to encourage them to continue
giving back. He also commended the initiative of the Emirates Autism
Society. The initiative emerges from the society’s conviction to work
together with partners and various civil society organizations, and to
support programs, initiatives and joint projects in accordance with one
national system. The society is keen to achieve joint institutional
cooperation under the directives of the higher leadership.
For
her part, Dr. Khawla Al Saadi, Chairman of the Emirates Autism Society,
expressed her happiness for the visit, and for the interactions with the
staff and clients of the Residency and Foreigners Affairs Department in
Abu Dhabi as they corresponded to the initiative of the Emirates Autism
Society. The initiative aims to raise the children in accordance with
authentic Islamic and Arabic principles and manners, with the overall
goal of integrating them into society and aiding them to become
beneficial and effective components of their society. At the end of the
visit, Colonel Al Zaabi presented the society with a commemorative
shield.
