For the first time and in cooperation with UAE Exchange
ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Saturday, March 22nd 2014 [ME NewsWire]
In
cooperation with UAE Exchange, the Abu Dhabi Police, represented by the
Community Police Department, will be organizing an international
cricket tournament at the Sheikh Zayed International Cricket Stadium.
The tournament is scheduled to take place on March 28 at Khalifa City
“A”, Abu Dhabi, with the participation of Asian cricket giants from
India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka.
The Community Police
Department sent out invitations to attend the tournament as part of its
awareness campaign; with cricket being a passion for Asian communities
and labor population in Abu Dhabi.
Lt. Colonel Mubarak Bin
Muhairom, Head of the Community Police Department at Abu Dhabi Police,
said that the match, which was scheduled to take place on March 14, was
postponed for organizational reasons, and will be held next Friday. He
noted that the tournament is expected to attract more than 15,000
stadium spectators and approximately 1.5 million viewers via various
media.
“This event complements the previous awareness campaign
organized by the Community Police Department, targeting Asian
communities in Abu Dhabi in order to acquaint them with the various
security and community-based regulations followed by the UAE in
residential areas. The campaign also aims to enhance security awareness
within the workers’ accommodation and work areas, as well as to urge
them to abide by security measures and procedures established to
maintain property and to enhance the relationship between community
members and the police; given that ‘Security is Everyone's
Responsibility’,” added Lt. Colonel Bin Muhairom.
He also
stressed that over 2 million Asians have benefited from this campaign
through the UAE Exchange’s 130 branches across the country. As part of
the campaign, awareness publications and brochures were distributed in
many languages, and are designed to communicate with Asian community
members within the UAE. Giant screens were also used to spread awareness
among the labor communities, and were set up at UAE Exchange’s
different branches, along with various social networking sites.
