A Pakistani man who set heavy vehicles and a caravan on fire, was unaware of the fact that he would be arrested by Abu Dhabi Police in due time. Abu Dhabi Police arrested the convict after he burned one caravan, 8 vehicles including 4 trucks, 2 buses, and 2 tankers, in the Western Region “Al Gharbia.”
A 23 years old Pakistani intentionally set vehicles and caravans on fire. Fortunately, no causalities were reported, but the financial losses were estimated to be worth hundreds of thousands of Dirhams.
The Western Region Police Directorate announced that it has recently received consecutive reports about an unidentified suspect that burned, within a short time frame, a caravan, in addition to 8 heavy vehicles including 4 trucks, 2 buses, and 2 tankers. The vehicles were parked at night in sandy areas in Ghayathi city.
Colonel Ojeil Ali Abdullah Al Junaibi, Director of the Western Region Police Directorate, said that “a police team was formed and headed to the location to investigate these reports. The police immediately started to link the facts, monitor and stop the suspect, and have him identified and arrested. The police were keen to figure out his intentions and the cause of these criminal acts.”
“Preliminary investigations indicated that there is criminal suspicion behind these ‘contrived’ crimes,” Colonel Al Junaibi added. “The police discovered that the suspect used a torched fire source, specifically a lighter. Police patrols were increased in the areas around the targeted area to ensure stability and security.”
“The investigating team was able to gather conclusive evidence and inferred via various means that M.A.S, a 23 year old, was involved in the above mentioned crimes,” Colonel Al Junaibi continued. “The suspect was arrested for reckless driving and possession of an invalid driving license. He tried to evade justice but was not able to deceive the police officers who have the highest professional capabilities.”
After initial interrogations, the convict admitted that he used to be a taxi driver and was recently discharged, and he said that his crimes were not a result of personal revenge. He also confessed that he used to commit his crimes at night after getting drunk and randomly targeting the vehicles. The victims, the vehicles’ owners, confirmed that they did not have any kind of disputes with the convict.
