50 Events and Excursions, and Great Success Stories at the Jeddah Entrepreneurship Week

Under the theme “Searching for more opportunities”, the Jeddah Entrepreneurship Week organized by the Emerging and Small Enterprises Center of the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI), will be held on 17-24 February. The event is organized under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Mishaal bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, Governor of the Makkah Region. The event will be attended by a sizable number of small and medium enterprise owners, along with male and female entrepreneurs.

Ziad Al-Bassam, JCCI vice chairman, noted that this event, which is being held for the first time, offers a main stream for entrepreneurs, and serves as one of the most important references for entrepreneurship in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He added that the event will create a suitable atmosphere and environment that will enable entrepreneurs and owners of small and medium sized enterprises to diversify their participation, and make their enterprises successful and productive by participating in this set of events.

Al-Bassam said that the event will launch an “Entrepreneur of The Year Award” in cooperation with Ernst & Young. He noted that the award aims to recognize creativity of individuals and enterprises, and encourages business projects that are growing or are already successful. More than 140 cities and 50 countries worldwide will participate at the launch, and the winner will be crowned in April and will receive a grant to display their project along with distinguished entrepreneurs from around the world at a European forum to be held at a later date.

For his part, Adnan bin Hussein Mandourah, Secretary General of the JCCI, stressed the importance of the event which aims to offer a contribution that will enable male and female entrepreneurs to market their services and products in a creative way. He said that the event also seeks to introduce entrepreneurs to the ideas of alliances and partnerships in order to face the competition that has become a concept adopted by markets. In addition, the event aims to encourage different entities to participate in facing the challenges that enterprises face, especially because the small and medium enterprises sector accounts for more than 80% of the chamber’s members.

He noted that the event will witness the organization of more than 50 events that will help improve the efficiency of male and female entrepreneurs with the aim of promoting the national economy. These events will include excursions to industrial, service and commercial sites; campaigns for high schools, educational institutions and commercial centers; a wide range of job opportunities at major companies; investment opportunities in companies and institutions; workshops focusing on the role of strategies in leading organizations; the establishment of work teams; service excellence in entrepreneurship; small enterprises; methods of improving entrepreneurship; courses under the theme “how to start your small enterprise and manage it successfully;” training plans; and professional marketing for small enterprises.

Mandourah added: “the event will also include lectures and educational seminars held in cooperation with educational entities. These will discuss the self-employment culture; how to face fear and practice self-employment; self-development; and partnerships and alliances in small enterprises; along with a number of studies, research on small enterprises and their integrative role with medium and large enterprises.
