Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates - Wednesday, November 6th 2013 [ME NewsWire]
Lt.
General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and
Minister of Interior confirmed that Flag Day marks the day the founding
father Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who worked hard to build the
Union with his brothers, hoisted the UAE flag for the first time 42
years ago on December 2, 1971. “This is the day of truth, marking the
birth of a people and the history of a nation, which strives tirelessly
towards further prosperity under one banner to establish the advanced
stature of the country,” HH said.
His Highness made this a
statement during the ceremony held on Wednesday to hoist the UAE flag on
the Ministry of Interior’s building, simultaneously with the federal
departments and ministries across the country. Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al
Nahyan lauded the noble national and popular initiative launched by His
Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime
Minister and ruler of Dubai to mark Flag Day and honor the anniversary
of the accession of His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan as
President of the UAE on November 3. “This comprehensive ceremony,
attended by officials and members of the public, represents a gesture of
love, recognition and loyalty to the homeland and to the leader,
President of the UAE, H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, symbol
of eternal unity and its main pillar,” added His Highness.
The
Ministry of Interior was keen to invite a large number of student
recruits from its various educational and training institutions to
attend this historic event. The key objective is to inspire the new
generations with this moment of glory and pride established by the
founding fathers of the UAE when they hoisted the UAE flag for the first
time, so that it remains fresh in their minds, and a source of
inspiration for them to maintain the UAE’s achievements forever.
The
Police Music Band performed the UAE flag music and the national anthem,
as His highness the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior
hoisted the flag with the UAE proud colors, which flutters solemnly
aloft as a source of inspiration for the country’s men and women.
The
