The Law Respect Culture Bureau at the General Secretariat of the Office of H.H. Deputy Prime Minister & Minister of Interior, organized a workshop that included a set of educational and entertainment activities for the children taking part in the Watani Summer Camp for girls. The workshop was organized by Watani- United Arab Emirates at the Kids R Us Nursery in Al Ain.
Lt. Col. Dr. Hammoud Al Affari, Deputy Director of the Law Respect Culture Bureau, said: “These activities fall within the bureau’s commitment to address all social categories, where children represent an essential component. Children enjoy an open mind and a developing soul that is able to receive new information; the workshop aims to ingrain in children social and humanitarian morals in a civilized manner in order to broaden their knowledge and horizons towards the best moral standings.”
Tamimah Al Nesar, Head of Exhibitions and Activities Department at Watani- United Arab Emirates, praised the initiative of the Law Respect Culture Bureau to educate children and raise their awareness on this civilized concept. “Children should be aware and recognize law respect as early as possible as it becomes an integral part of their personality, which is expressed in their behavior towards others,” she explained.
Activities included a movie titled: “Together to build a Law Respect Culture.” The movie was presented by a group of volunteers to the bureau, expressing their belief in the concept and showing their interest in contributing to the spread this concept among community members through various means. The movie received 4,738 views by 12:00 pm on Sunday on YouTube.
First Lieutenant Nasser Al Ka’bi delivered an opening speech, in which he introduced the children to the Law Respect Culture Bureau. He explained to them its objectives. Later on, he started the workshop, in which a team from the bureau simplified an explanation on the way the bureau works highlighting the importance of this culture especially for children. The children were also introduced to the special protection they enjoy through the law. The workshop shed light on the Child Protection Law and other laws and regulations that aim to bring public security and safety. The team also reviewed a number of laws implemented for children on a daily basis in their homes, schools and wherever they are with their families. The team also answered legal questions presented by the children regarding the content and objectives of such laws.
Iman Al Hamadi, the activity coordinator, organized a set of games that aimed to simplify the legal concepts and deliver them to children in a joyful way, in order to implant such laws and concepts in their minds. She also distributed some legal booklets released by the bureau on different occasions. The team explained the content, which was accompanied by photos, highlighting the importance of the law articles for the protection of the children and society.
Fadl Al Tamimi, Director of the child theatre, trained the participating children on a theatre play that shed light on legal concepts regarding the importance of law respect culture. The play, which consisted of a number of skits, highlighted the importance of following laws and regulations as they are important in maintaining public order and protecting the values of society. The audience evaluated the theatrical skits and chose the best one.
The activities were concluded with a section called “I am patriotic… I respect the law.” During this section, participating children expressed their belonging to the homeland, where the law respect represents one of the main social pillars and a reason for its stability, providing everyone who lives on this land with security and safety. Three prize-winning draws were carried out where three children were chosen to receive awards for answering legal questions they were asked during the activities.
