Stars of Science concludes on Friday, marking the end of a special edition fraught with challenges presented by COVID-19. But viewers can still vote for their favorite innovator on Qatar Foundation’s edutainment TV show via the website.

The four finalists – Ahmad Fathalla, Eiman Al Hamad, Mohammad Almogahwi, and Wadah Malaeb – worked for months on the engineering, marketability, and usability of their inventions. And their chance to win the competition now hinges on the public’s voting and the jury’s decisions.

In the run-up to the final episode, this season’s alumni co-hosts draw upon their experiences on the show to offer words of advice to the finalists. “Don’t think about winning or losing, you have persevered to reach this point,” said Engineer Abdulrahman Saleh Khamis, a top-three finalist on Season 11. “This is the beginning of your innovation journey.”

Engineer Majed Lababidi, Season 3 alumnus, highlighted how all of the contestants are accomplished even if they don’t take first place in the competition. While Dr. Mohamad Ziad Chaari, a top-four candidate on Season 3, said that this year’s finalists must remain fearless as they defend their inventions in front of the jury and the world.

The co-hosts recognize that the finalists’ projects have significance beyond the competition. “You are not competing against each other; you are proving your inventions’ worth to the Arab world and beyond,” said Mohammed Al-Jefairi, a fourth-place contestant on Season 9. “Your efforts now and in the future will further innovation in this region.”

Online voting is now open on www.starsofscience.com and ends on Thursday, November 5 at 3PM GMT. Tune in to watch the final episode of Season 12 this Friday.

About Stars of Science

As the premier innovation show in the Arab world, Stars of Science – the edutainment TV initiative of Qatar Foundation (QF) – empowers Arab innovators to develop technological solutions for their communities, benefitting people’s health and lifestyles, and helping to preserve the environment.

Over a 12-week process, the contestants demonstrate the effectiveness of their solutions in a shared innovation space, competing against time with the support of a team of experienced engineers and product developers. An expert panel of jurors assess and eliminate projects every week across several prototyping and testing rounds, until only four finalists remain to compete for a share of $600,000 in seed funding. Jury deliberation and online voting from the public determine the rankings.

Stars of Science will air every Friday and Saturday from September 11, 2020 till November 6, 2020. Please visit the broadcast guide for channels and timings: starsofscience.com
