India’s Iconic Markaz Knowledge City Promises High Returns for Expat Investors

Markaz Knowledge City (MKC), India's first knowledge city developed at an estimated investment of US$ 435 million (INR 30 billion) and spanning over 125 acres of land in the South Indian state of Kerala, will go functional at full-scale this year promising massive investment returns for Indian expatriates.

The education-focused integrated infra-development and the futuristic township combining cultural, educational, residential and commercial properties located at Kaithapoyil in Kozhikode, Kerala, offers attractive returns for investors. Once fully operational, the development with multiple projects spanning over a total of 3 million square feet will act as a knowledge hub providing more than 25,000 jobs in variety of sectors. 

Commenting on the project, Dr Muhammed Abdul Hakkim Azhari, Managing Director of Markaz Knowledge City, said, “The first-of-its-kind Knowledge City project will facilitate a paradigm shift in the interest of tourists and investors from around the world. Dr Abdul Salam Mohammed, CEO of Markaz Knowledge City and former Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) scientist, said, “Envisioned for academic excellence, Markaz Knowledge City is expected to emerge as a significant integrated township. The establishment is aimed at promoting global quality education, research, heritage, business, technology, innovation, healthcare and lifestyle. MKC will also act as a centre for exchange of values of humanity, culture, happiness, tolerance, sustainability and environmental protection.”

“The education-centric, yet multi-purpose, city lines up an international school, higher education colleges for engineering, medical, centre of excellence for innovations, business, law and humanities; in addition to a multi-specialty hospital, Arabian Heritage Souk, star hotel, international exhibition centre and a gated residential community. MKC will house advanced research centre in multiple fields and facilitate farming spanning over 100,000 sq.mt to cultivate organic products such as fruits, vegetable and medicinal plants,” he elaborated.

MKC’s key educational project Alif Global School, set up with a global curriculum driven by the latest edu-tech systems and innovative tools, will be opened in June 12, 2019. Focused on value-based academic excellence, Alif is set to be one of the best schools in the nation.

Tigris Valley Wellness Centre by Imtibish Healthcare offers a holistic approach combining Unani, Ayurveda, Sidha, and naturopathy treatments. Tigris Valley provides global standard facilities for wellness, fitness and meditation with services including physiotherapy, neuro rehabilitation, holistic regimental therapy, purity therapy, gymnasiums, recreational amenities and jogging tracks along with premium room facilities. The world-class health resort will be inaugurated in July 2019.

Fez Inn hotel, built at the entrance of the city with 4-star facilities including 112 rooms, restaurants, coffee shops, banquet hall, swimming pool, fitness centre and board room, will be opened in October 2019. Markaz International Exhibition Centre, to host global events and conferences will have the capacity to accommodate 2,000 persons, is scheduled to open on the same date.

Landmark Village, developed by Landmark Builders, the residential project of MKC will have 1,200 apartments of global standards in six towers; in addition to 70 plus units for commercial, office and educational operations spanning over 20 acres of land. The first phase of the residential zone consisting of 156 units of 2 BHK and 3 BHK apartments, villaments and clubhouses will be launched in December 2019.

The Cultural Centre being developed by Talenmark Developers with appealing aesthetic components and an Arabian Heritage Souk, will mark Kerala in the global cultural map. The Souk will house more than 150 retail trading outlets in 50 different product categories. The Centre will also feature a Spiritual Enclave, International Library, Research Centre, Heritage Museum, Auditorium and Performance Theatre. The Cultural Centre will be opened for public in March 2020.

Markaz Unani Medical College, the first in Kerala, started functioning at MKC in 2014, followed by Markaz Law College in 2015, post-graduate studies centre for commerce, Ideal School of Leadership, College of Islamic Sciences, Malaibar Foundation for Research and Development, and Queensland Women’s College.

MKC also lines-up a school of pharmaceutical science, school of management studies, and school of designing. In line with the latest trends in technology, the Centre of Excellence at MKC will facilitate research, development and education in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Robotics, Blockchain, Augmented Realty (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) in its campus. Digital Bridge International is the developer of the centre.
