KDDI
selects Cleversafe’s highly reliable and secure software platform for
its new offering within the KDDI Cloud Platform Service, bringing
petabyte-scale data storage to Japanese companies
CHICAGO - Tuesday, September 1st 2015 [ME NewsWire]
(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Cleversafe, Inc., the web-scale storage market share leader, today announced that KDDI Corporate has selected Cleversafe’s web-scale data storage platform for its new object storage service within the KDDI Cloud Platform Service (KCPS). The service provides enterprises with a highly scalable and reliable cloud storage solution designed to address explosive data demands generated by the rapid growth of unstructured data.
As today’s enterprises struggle to manage and store the data deluge created by user-, application- and machine-generated information, interest in scalable public and private cloud storage solutions has skyrocketed. Addressing this demand, KDDI’s object storage service for enterprises offers highly scalable data storage with enterprise-class reliability, availability and security at public cloud economics. The new offering within KCPS leverages Cleversafe’s web-scale software platform that delivers petabyte-and-beyond scalability, with 15 nines of reliability and 15 times greater efficiency than traditional approaches.
Using a patented data dispersal technology, Cleversafe’s dsNet® storage system divides, encrypts and disperses information across multiple data center locations, significantly increasing data availability and security. With Cleversafe’s approach, the service stores information across KDDI’s three Japanese data centers, ensuring high levels of data security, continuous uptime and uninterrupted system performance, even in the event of a natural disaster or technical failure.
Providing an object storage service within KCPS builds on the success the company has experienced with its consumer cloud offering, Au Smart Pass, which today provides highly reliable and secure storage to 13 million KDDI customers. Cleversafe provides the scalable storage backbone for Au Smart Pass as well, ensuring continuous data availability and uninterrupted performance in the event of a hardware or software failure.
“We’re pleased to expand our relationship with Cleversafe, which is not only providing the technology underlying Au Smart Pass, but is now serving as our technology partner for KDDI Cloud Platform Service,” said Akihito Fujii, KDDI’s general manager of Cloud Service Development. “Leveraging Cleversafe’s technology, KCPS is able to deliver a solution that helps Japanese enterprises address their growing data storage needs with extreme scale and efficiency and without sacrificing performance, security or cost.”
“Cleversafe is a leader in object storage¹, a position that reflects its ability to deliver massive at-scale deployments with extreme efficiency and carrier-grade security and a strategy to continue leading the market as it grows,” said Ashish Nadkarni, IDC Research Director. “Their proven web-scale software platform gives customers like KDDI the storage solution they need to succeed in their own cloud storage services.”
“The new object storage service within the KDDI Cloud Platform Service provides a highly reliable and efficient storage solution to help enterprises tackle their growing data storage challenges,” said John Morris, president and CEO of Cleversafe. “KDDI is one of the most innovative companies in Japan, and we are very pleased to be at the core of its object storage offering, delivering the secure, web-scale data storage solution enterprises can trust.”
