The Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Department of Abu Dhabi Police has obtained the ISO 20000 Management of IT Operations Certification. It is worth mentioning that this is considered to be one of the best international standard certifications for excellence in the field of IT service management, and is based on (ITIL) standards. The department managed to obtain this accreditation after successfully passing a three-day external audit that was recently conducted by TUV Rheinland and carrying out preparations that lasted for more than a year.

For his part, Colonel Mohammed Abdullah Al Zaabi, Deputy Director of the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Department of Abu Dhabi Police and Director of the ISO 20000 Project, stressed that the department managed to match all of the (ISO 20000) requirements, which is an extraordinary achievement. “This certification is considered to be the best standard in the world in terms of quality of management processes, designed to ensure the provision of IT services to internal and external customers in an effective manner,” Al Zaabi noted. He also pointed out that the department had begun preparing for this certification a year ago by training 420 staff members on the ITIL program at its own expense. It also helped 187 of its employees and officers obtain an ITIL Foundation certification and qualified 32 others as Information Technology Infrastructure Library experts (ITIL Expert).

“The department has successfully completed all standards and requirements which made it eligible to receive this certificate within a period that did not exceed one year; including the testing and auditing period that it has managed to overcome efficiently,” said Al Zaabi. Furthermore, he praised the great efforts made by the department’s staff members to enhance the quality of IT services.

Al Zaabi said: “This certificate marks another addition to the department’s myriad of awards and certificates in its quest to achieve leadership and excellence. It is an incentive to achieve further results that will enable us to win numerous local and global awards and certificates. It also complements our efforts to attain institutional excellence, deliver innovative and modern services and achieve higher customer satisfaction rates.”
