Saif bin Zayed Tours the International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition (IHEE)

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Saturday, September 7th 2013

Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, toured the International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition IHEE 2013, hosted by the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.

His Highness visited the various local and international pavilions and facilities featuring in the exhibition, which is held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in the Western Region, and Chairman of the Emirates Falconers' Club.

Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan was briefed on the efforts and practical plans being made ??by the various parties to promote sports and Arab authentic hobbies, to preserve the national heritage and the environment, and to raise awareness on sustainable hunting methods, falconry, and sports arts.

His Highness was also briefed on the latest types of pistols, hunting rifles, as well as wild marine sports and camping equipment and other products.

In a statement on the sidelines of the tour, His Highness indicated that this annual exhibition reflects the deep rooted traditional heritage of the United Arab Emirates, and embodies the keenness of the country’s leadership to preserve the national heritage and revive its authentic components. HH also expressed his pride with the prominent position attained by the International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition at the local, regional and international levels.

He added: ''With every heritage exhibition, we reminisce the attention dedicated by our father, late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, for falconry and equestrianism in general. His Highness, may Allah have mercy on his soul, regarded hunting trips as an opportunity to meet people and to know their needs and characters. He also had a keen commitment to preserve the local environment components, develop them and positively interact with them.”

His Highness praised the considerable efforts exerted by the organizing committee and exhibitors; lauding the enthusiasm to participate and attend the exhibition’s various activities. He also commended the new events developed by the organizers, which acquainted the new generations and visitors with the importance of the national heritage, and its prominent position.

HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan expressed his admiration for the products being showcased at the exhibition. He also commended the participating companies and institutions as well as the significant public turnout, particularly from the youth; stressing that this reflects the exhibition’s success in attracting the different segments of society with the latest hunting and equestrian products, as well as the camel races and various competitions. Such competitions included the Falcon, horses and camels beauty contests, and other competitions that highlight the unique cultural heritage of the UAE.

His Highness was accompanied during the tour by Mohammed Ahmed Al Bowardi, Executive Council Board member, Managing Director of the Environment Agency - Abu Dhabi;  Mohammed Khalaf Al Mazrouei, Advisor for Culture and Heritage at the Court of the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Higher Organising of the Adihex; Abdullah Al Qubaisi, member of the organizing committee, and Director of the International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition; Colonel Hameed Al Afrit, Head of the Weapons and Explosives Department at Abu Dhabi Police, and Chairman of the Exhibition’s Security Committee. During the visit, Colonel Al Afrit gave His Highness an overview of the security measures in force at the exhibition, and the latest equipment used to promote security in such exhibitions and international events.
